Unifi Design System

Faced with the business challenge of rapid application development, I designed modular components for a new design system (Unifi). The components can be themed and are represented in Figma libraries, giving designers more time to focus on building great  experiences. The Unifi Design System was able to reduce technical debt by providing tested and accessible components to designers and developers.

 

In addition to the components, I designed a documentation site giving guidelines and coding examples to developers.

Federal Student Loans

As senior designer on a team tasked with the redesign of the Nelnet Federal Loan Servicing experience, I utilized user research to gain a better understanding of desired user flows.  The resulting improved experience allowed users to access their federal loan information in an intuitive way, resulting in significant savings for the company in customer support calls and email queries.

Velocity Orginations

I was responsible for the design of an innovative modular system for originating consumer,
refinance and education loans. Customized for client flow, branding and
experience, the new system aims to allow client experiences to be configured in
minutes, rather than weeks.

Velocity Backoffice

As Velocity Design Lead, I was responsible for the Interface design of the agent back-office for consumer leading. The new experience allows loan agents and other back-office users to easily undertake application related tasks and view aggregate application data without extensive training and manual checking. All application material can be reviewed without having to leave the application, spending up the application review process and reducing processing errors. 

SFI Income Sharing Agreement

The Student Freedom Initiative (SFI) implementation of Velocity Originations utilized UI components themed for SFI, but the flow and content were based on the prospective SFI applicants. Haivng researched user personas, and storyboarded their journey allowed me to determine content to be presented at each critical stage of the user journey.

IBM Employee Voice

I was able design for the transformation of Survey Reporting to an online real time solution
utilizing a modern intuitive design and focus on actionable insights, rather downloading data. An administrative backend was also designed, supporting configuration and security now handled directly by the user.

IBM TALENT Management

I was able to successfully conduct extensive user testing for re-design of Assess talent recruitment product. Working with client users to validate designs and incorporating feedback I was able to use feedback data to work with stakeholders to significantly improve the designs brought to market.

OrG Mapper

Challenged with the design for advanced mapping of multi-hierarchy organization data, I was able to shift the process from a laborious spreadsheet upload to an online organizational management tool.  Design innovations included advanced organization editing, moving organization nodes between hierarchies, and an intuitive upload wizard.
